Glow Plug
Diesel engines differ a lot from petrol engines. One huge distinction is the way they go about the combustion process. Petrol engines have spark plugs that stimulate the process; diesel engines, however, do not. Diesel engines mainly depend on compression in order for combustion to take place. A Glow Plug is present in all diesel engines because this facilitates the easy and fast start of combustion, especially in large engine blocks. A diesel engine is typically composed of a large engine block in order to accommodate the great pressure needed for air compression. This large block, however, makes it difficult for the air to heat up, especially if the vehicle was not used for some time. The Glow Plug solves that problem. As long as this device is present in the engine, combustion will be as effortless as that in the petrol engine. For a part that plays an important role in a diesel engine, this plug has a very simple structure. It’s like a short metal tube that has grooves in the middle and on one end. Its most important part is the heating filament that’s integrated on the tip. There are several factors that can reduce its good function.and one predominant cause is overheating. Like a match, the Glow Plug can get burned out and when this happens, it will be unable to provide the heat needed to start the combustion process. The most practical solution to this problem is replacement.
